problems and challenges MEGA CITIES face all around the world
Some common problems that mega cities face are environmental problems, overpopulation, traffic, quick spreading disease, poor air quality, pollution, lack of jobs, lack of health and emergency services, energy demands and some others. Most mega cities are working to solve these problems where as others do not have the money or aren't advanced enough to create solutions to these problems.
Pollution
Air pollution is a big problem in London, the main air pollutants consist of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, xides of nitrogen, particulate matter, lead, benzene, carbon minoxie, benzo(a)pryene, ozone.

The London boroughs are funding for the air to be monitored at around 100 different locations. The mayor is also trying to reduce the levels of some of the pollutants listed above.
Traffic
Due to the population in London and the number of jobs that require people to be in the city, traffic gets congested as people are trying to get to their work and possibly even their residence. Around 82% of the people entering London use public transport, meaning that there are many buses and cabs on the main roads of London.

Transport for London (TfL) is a committee that focuses on reducing traffic in London and to achieve this goal, they are improving bus services, improving journey time reliability for car users, making the distribution of goods and services more reliable, sustainable and efficient. TfL are raising funds to accomplish this goal.
crime
There have been an average of 171 murders since 1994. In 2013 alone, there have been 1,943 assaults, 2000 break and enters, 1,269 frauds and a total number of 23, 993 of crimes ranging from homicide to counterfeit to gaming and betting to sexual assault.

London is currently improving their police forces/services and their detective forces. They are also advertising security systems such as Cube CCTV.
